WILLOW showrunner Jon Kasdan says the series has not been canceled and Volume II is planned

It was recently reported that Disney canceled Lucasfilm Willow series, which didn’t seem to be surprising news to many people. What is surprising is that now Willow series writer and showrunner Jonathan Kasdan it is saying that the series has not been canceled and that Volume II is planned.

Kasdan explained on social media that reports of the show’s cancellation were exaggerated and that neither he nor the Lucasfilm team would classify the series as canceled. He explained:

“A decision was made last week to release our core cast for other series opportunities that may arise for them in the coming year. actor without a clear sense of when you’ll need them again. It’s further trivialized by the simple reality that the scripts we’ve been working on require just as many actors with whom there is no such contractual link.”

But, at the same time, there are currently no plans to start filming Volume II and Kasdan says production on the streamed shows is slowing down and the Willow the series definitely won’t pick up the film for at least 12 months.

If the show isn’t cancelled, and it actually gets a Volume II, the showrunner hopes what it will deliver will be “brain-melting fun, richer, darker, and better.”

One thing I love about Kasdan’s response is how overwhelmingly positive it is, and I love how it also addresses those fans, like me, who didn’t like certain aspects of the series. It seems like he and his creative team will take those criticisms of the show, learn from them, and make it better if they’re able to continue.
