James Camerons titanic gets another release in China, this time on the 25th anniversary of the original film. April 3 was set as the start date. The version released that day will be a revamped 3D 4K HDR update, just like the version released elsewhere in February, and will include a premium large format component. (See the new poster below.)
China is a big market for Cameron. titanic originally released in April 1998 for around $44 million. In April 2012, the 3D version that sailed there grossed another $145 million, setting records at the time – and this was just as the PRC was developing into a major hub. Total volume in China to date is estimated at $189 million. More recently Cameron’s Avatar: the way of water swam to a total of $246 million there.
