THE Machete The film franchise originated from a mock 1970s-style grindhouse trailer included in the 2007 double feature Grindhouse. Danny Tregio he played the title character in the exploitation-style film, which followed the vengeful Mexican mercenary on a mission of bloody revenge.
The first Machete the film was released in 2010, and in it, after being framed and betrayed by the man who hired him to assassinate a Texas senator, Machete, a former Fed, launches a brutal revenge rampage against his former boss.
This was followed by a sequel in 2013 titled The machete killsand that movie came with another fake trailer for The machete still kills… in space, and it’s a film fans still want to see made one day! Trejo is 78 years old and he too wants to make the film. When he goes out to make public appearances, he asks his fans if they’re still interested in that movie, and it seems they are!
During a recent interview with Expirationdirector Roberto Rodríguez was asked for a can The machete still kills… in space movie and explained that they have to make another movie to satisfy the fans:
“Danny’s always calling me. He films the entire audience he’s talking to, and they’re all saying ‘Machete in space!’ And then he turns the phone over, looks at me and walks away [Rodriguez mugs]. That’s why I put up a fake trailer for “Machete 2”. To satisfy you. “Okay, this is pretty much what it would sound like, but you can see it in two minutes instead of two hours.” And it never satisfies them. He never satisfies them. So we have to make one.”
Rodriguez went on to admit that he initially had no intention of doing it Machete a feature film, but it was the huge fan reaction that prompted him to make it. He explained:
“They were bugging us for five years: ‘When is that movie coming out?’ I said it was a fake trailer.”No! But it seemed real! When is it going to come out?” So, we have to do it for them. So five years later I made that movie. It wasn’t supposed to be a movie. The audience just wanted it. I’ve never done with any movie before. And now, everyone’s still ‘Machete in space!’ You can’t give them enough!”
So, it seems like it’s only a matter of time before Rodriguez and Trejo team up to back up Machetes in space, and if they do, I’m sure it will be more ridiculously crazy than the first two. Do you all want to see a Machetes in space movie!?
