This film will tell “an action-packed story of ‘Jingoro Hidari’, a legendary Japanese sculptor of the Edo period, who used wooden puppets.” It follows Hidari as he seeks revenge after being betrayed by his fellow artisans and losing his arm.

Hidari has since replaced his arm with a wooden prosthetic, which has built-in contraptions that aid him in his fighting efforts as he slays a legion of baddies out for the kill. His arm is also interchangeable and at one point he replaces it with a chainsaw arm with which he proceeds to saw through his enemies.

I also like that the blood spray is sawdust! If this is funded, Kawamura hopes to transform Hidari in a fantasy action film by 2028. In explaining the film, he said:

To take full advantage of the mystical character of Jingoro Hidari, we plan to weave fiction and factual history into the story (something like a more violent Forrest Gump set in ancient Japan). Real historical events such as the reconstruction of Edo castle, the Keian uprising and the great fire of Meireki will be the backdrop for the events that occur within the film. And real historical figures like Shogun Ietsuna Tokugawa and Yorinobu Tokugawa will play important roles.

The synopsis reads:

A skilled carpenter/sculptor Jingoro, he is framed by his colleagues and loses his right arm and father in an “accident” while rebuilding Edo Castle. A few decades later… Jingoro is continuing his journey of revenge with his partner “Sleeping Cat” and his weaponized prosthetic arm. People must call him Jingoro “Hidari”, which means “left-handed” in Japanese.

Jingoro defeats all the enemies who betrayed him, but discovers that the Tokugawa shogunate was behind the murder. He searches for clues as to who was behind the entire setup and battles an army of mechanical soldiers along the way. In the end, he faces the mastermind behind all the murders, but first he must save the city of Edo by stopping Edo Castle, now transformed into a weapon of mass destruction!
