Michelle Yeoh says she deserves an Oscar more than Cate Blanchett for ‘Everything Everywhere’ – AFP (Agency)
There are just a few hours left before the Oscars ceremony begins and with it the controversies begin to be felt. Now, ‘Everything Everywhere At Once’ star Michelle Yeoh says she, above Cate Blanchett, wins Best Actress at the film industry’s top awards celebration.
Through his Instagram account, Michelle Yeoh hinted that Cate Blanchett deserves the Oscar, when she shared a Vogue article, titled, “It’s been more than two decades since a non-white woman won the Best Actress Oscar. Will this change in 2023? The ‘Everything Everywhere at the Same Time’ actress took some screenshots and added a little description.
In the mail, Michelle Yeoh explains why she deserves to win the Oscar for best actress: “This isn’t just for me, it’s for all the little girls who look like me. We want you to see us. We want to be heard”. The protagonist of “The Mummy 3” assures that she has been left out in the industry, while Cate Blanchett is already one of the best artists in Hollywood.
The Vogue paragraph argued: “Detractors may say Blanchett gives the stronger performance, but it should be noted that she has already won two Oscars. Could a third award perhaps confirm her status as an industry titan but, considering her vast and unrivaled body of work, do we need more confirmation? Meanwhile, for Yeoh, an Oscar could have a huge impact on her life: her name would forever be preceded by the phrase ‘Oscar winner’ (…) ”.

Michelle Yeoh breaks Academy rules ahead of the Oscars
He Michelle Yeoh’s post criticizing Cate Blanchett has been removed, a few hours before the end of the voting period. The academy has strict rules regarding shooting down another candidate: “Any tactic that talks about ‘contest’ by name or titles is expressly prohibited,” and even if she didn’t write them, it’s a “tactic” in an important period.
Although Michelle Yeoh’s chances of winning the Oscar have been jeopardized, the truth is that the actress of “Everything Everywhere at the Same Time” (available on Amazon Prime Video), is one of the big favorites to win one of the most relevant awards of the evening.
Surely both Yeoh and his social media team were having a bad day with the post. But there’s also the fact that everything will most likely continue as normal, and the topic will only be addressed with a couple of jokes. The Oscars 2023 will be held on Sunday, March 12.
