It turns out that after all these years, Chuck E. Cheese still used floppy disks for his dancing animatronic rodents! It’s crazy to learn that this outdated technology is still in use today, but I guess it makes a lot of sense that it is!

An employee of Chuck E. Cheese shared a video on his TikTok (showbizpizzaman) showing how the family pizzeria/game room still uses floppy disks to load its animatronic shows.
Stewart shows a floppy disk marked “Evergreen Show 2023” and loads it into the old computer system he’s standing in front of and turns it on! It’s so funny that the floppy disc relic is still used today.
For those of you who think maybe Chuck E. Cheese is the only place keeping floppy discs alive today, you are wrong. I’m pretty confident the government and some schools are still using them!
It is explained in the video that its Chuck E. Cheese subsidiary is undergoing a restructuring in the near future and that this is the last floppy disk it will ever have to load as the company phase out the format. Who knows, maybe next time they’ll replace it with DVD technology!
