Following the merger of Warner Media and Discovery Communications under Warner Bros. Discovery Inc, David Zaslav will also merge content from streaming services HBO Max and Discovery+. In this way, their plan is to keep Discovery+ for those who want to exclusively view their catalog at a reduced price and offer the best of Discovery and Warner Bros. hosted on Max, the platform that will replace HBO Max. With that, the company also promises a larger catalog at the same price as always.

According to Bloomberg, the new platform will contain thousands of new unscripted content titles, which is a term that covers everything from talk shows to documentaries and reality shows. In short, everything that is not fiction or film. This will be possible because they will have access to Discovery’s reality programming. Zaslav hopes this translates into more followers for the new platform, especially since HBO Max’s shares won’t suffer despite this.
More content, same prices
That way, users would continue to pay $10/month for the ad-supported version and $15-16 for the ad-free option, in line with current rates for HBO Max in the US. With all, a new monthly plan is on the table that would cost $20 and in return would offer, among other things, better video quality, although it has not been confirmed. In April, Warner Bros. will provide more details on the new platform and start rolling it out.
In particular payment plans are different in Spain, where at the moment there are no options other than the monthly fee (8.99 euros), which includes access to ad-free content, and the annual one at a reduced price (69.99 euros). Therefore, it is still too early to tell if the new plans will be extended to our country as soon as Max arrives, who intends to start operating in the United States in the coming months and arrive in Spain in 2024.
