I have been a big fan of He shouted director franchise Wes CravenThe very first movie by was released in 1996. He reinvented the horror genre and gave it a new take which the audience welcomed. He is so crazy that after all these years the He shouted the franchise is alive and well and continues to produce great and exciting new chapters.

When the franchise was taken over by Radio Silence’s Matt Bettinelli-Olpin AND Tyler Gillette (Scream, ready or not) I was curious, but also kept my expectations in check. I was pleasantly surprised with their first Scream movie, and now we have it Scream VIand I’ll tell you… they definitely stepped it up with the New York City location and the way they brought the story forward with these characters.
If you’re looking for a wild, blood-soaked ride, Scream VI is sure to satisfy you! This sixth installment of the iconic horror franchise delivers all the heart-pounding scares and wry humor fans have come to expect from the He shouted movie. But that definitely changes things a bit and now the characters are well aware that they’re in a franchise now, and to keep the franchise alive things have to get a little crazier and expectations have to be subverted, which this movie does. . .
From the opening sequence to a shocking ending, this film doesn’t hold back from going to dark and unexpected places. Fans of the series will also love the nods to previous installments, while newcomers will be drawn to the fresh new characters, stylish film direction, and expertly crafted scares. The film is unrelenting in its depiction of brutal violence and gore.
While fans of the series will recognize the iconic assassin from Ghostface, the filmmakers have turned the intensity up to truly horrifying levels this time around. As promised, this is a version of Ghostface we haven’t seen before, as he is a “bolder and bolder Ghostface” who hunts down and kills his prey. His kills are visceral and brutal, and the visual effects team must have had a lot of fun bringing the realistic gore and gore to life that is sure to make audiences squirm. The film doesn’t hesitate to show all the violence of him on screen.
The film will also have an emotional impact on fans who have come to appreciate these characters. The film’s script takes care to establish these characters before setting them in the path of the killer, which makes each death all the more devastating. But one thing I like most about the film is the way it subverts the audience’s expectations. Just when you think you know what’s coming, the movie pulls the rug out from under you with a shocking twist or unexpected turn of events. This keeps viewers on edge throughout the film, never quite sure what’s coming next.
I thought I had it all figured out, but when it came to the end of the movie, I was dead wrong. I’m usually pretty good at guessing what’s going to happen and who the killer under the mask will be, but in this case I couldn’t crack it. I liked the ending! I like what they ended up doing in continuing the story. The film’s script takes care to leave breadcrumbs and red herrings throughout the story, keeping the viewers engaged and involved in the mystery.
Another remarkable element of the film’s story is the use of meta-horror. THE He shouted the franchise has always been known for how self-aware and Scream VI he has a lot of fun playing with that too. After the comments the director made about the film, I was concerned that this aspect of the film would be lost, but I was happy to see that it is still very much intact and at the heart of the franchise.
The film’s characters are not only aware of the horror genre, but actively engage with it, commenting on tropes and clichés and even using their knowledge to try and outwit the killer. This self-referential aspect of the film’s story adds a layer of depth and complexity that sets it apart from other horror films.
Overall, I had a lot of fun watching Scream VIand it’s a film that is sure to leave fans of the franchise wanting another sequel.
