As James Gunn is accused of lying, the director says he will “never lie” to fans

Co-CEO and director of DC Studios James Gunn he’s always on social media interacting with fans and sharing little details about the projects he’s working on. Right now, the focus is on the big plans for his upcoming slate of DC film and TV projects.

Since Gunn has been vocal about these plans, some fans are calling out him for lying about certain things. In a recent series of tweets, Gunn responded to a fan who called the director “a professional liar.” Gunn says he’s been engaged with fans for years and said he’s never lied to them and never will.

Another fan then shared a series of screenshots featuring some of the past comments Gunn has made about not directing a Superman movies or wanting to take an executive job like Kevin Feige with Marvel Studios or Walter Hamada with DC. Then, Gunn responded by saying:

“None of those were lies. I was offered Superman, but went with Squad instead. A few years later I saw how to face Superman and I faced him. I didn’t want to be the sole CEO of DC, but when they came and offered it to me AND Peter I said yes because I could focus on the creative side.

“Again, I have never lied to fans, and I never will. That doesn’t mean I’ll never change my mind about anything.”
