Hugh Jackman describes his Wolverine return as a ‘dual role’ in Marvel’s DEADPOOL 3

Hugh Jackman recently revealed an interesting new piece of information about his return as Wolverine Deadpool 3. In a new interview with France’s The Parisien, Jackman has described his return as a “dual role,” which seems to suggest that he could also play a variant of Wolverine.

With filming starting this summer, he’s preparing for the role and trying to get into Wolverine form. Talking about it he said:

“Yes, it will also be a double role. Ryan and I have been friends for twenty years, we have a lot of fun together. We are shooting this summer. That’s why I’m so happy to be in Paris right now and to be able to taste French gastronomy. Because pretty soon I’m going to have to go on a strict diet to remake my Wolverine body: steamed chicken and broccoli!

If that’s true, it’s going to be really interesting to see two Wolverines running around in the MCU! We’ll eventually get some concrete details about this movie, but right now, we’re just going to have to go by what those involved are saying, and that’s information that’s sure to stir the imaginations of fans.

The film is directed by Shawn Leviwho had previously made fun of the film’s violence and vulgarity, saying, “We’re writing, rewriting, developing, preparing Dead Pool every day now. It’s so much fun to laugh every day. It’s so delightful to listen to, write and invent these scenes where people speak badly. And the violence is in your face and hardcore, and it really is a Dead Pool movie.”

It’s also been revealed that Wolverine and Deadpool won’t get along in the film. Wolverine hates Deadpool and Jackman has spoken about this before, saying, “How do I rate him? Ten is very close, zero is reality, we are zero, we are opposites, we hate each other. I’m just talking from my point of view, [Logan’s] frustrated with him, wants to be a million miles away from him or wants to punch him in the head. Unfortunately, she can’t be a million miles away from him in this movie, so I’m probably going to be punching him in the head a lot.

Ryan Reynolds also previously shared some insight into a Deadpool and Wolverine storyline that was being planned before Disney bought Fox. “It was going to be a road trip between Deadpool and Logan. Rashmon style. Really.” I hope they’re still going to do it!

For those of you who aren’t familiar with what a RashmonStyle story is where the same event is told by multiple characters and the stories differ in ways that are impossible to reconcile. It shows that two or more people can view the same event quite differently.

Deadpool 3 is scheduled for November 8, 2024.
