Hasbro reveals new INDIANA JONES retro Kenner-style figures and Adventure Series 6-inch figures

Hasbro has released some new images of their retro Kenner line of Indiana Jones action figures along with their 6-inch Adventure Series line. After Raiders of the Lost Ark was released in 1981, Kenner produced a small line of action figures to accompany the film. But unlike the toy maker Star Wars series, which spanned the entire original trilogy, that of Kenner Indy the line ended after one movie. Fans have long wondered what Kenner toys based on the later films might look like, and Hasbro set out to make those dreams come true.

The retro line includes Indy and Short Round figures from The Temple of Destinyand a digit for The Last Crusade, Indy with the Holy Grail.

The 6-inch Adventure Series figures are Target exclusives. They feature Indy in his Raiders of the Lost Ark map room gear and Kazim’s character the last crusade, who has not had a figure before.

Chris Reiff, manager, product design, at Hasbro Star Wars team, spoke to Lucasfilm.com about choosing the Indy and Short Round designs for this toy line, saying:

“Deciding which Temple of Doom scene to capture in this figure was crucial but, in the end, there was only one choice: that classic Indiana Jones moment standing on deck with machete, shirt ripped and hand in a bandage. This figure was slightly different from the original Indiana Jones figure from Raiders of the Lost Ark, which featured a full jacket, and truly captures the spirit of the Temple of Doom.

He continued:

“Bringing the Indiana Jones character Short Round into classic retro style was a fun project to work on,” says Reiff. “We had several pleasant conversations discussing how the figure might have been created if it happened on the original 1980s Kenner line. Every aspect was up for discussion, especially the choice of his height compared to the other existing Indy Retro figures, the choice of the flashlight accessory, the provision of a separate shirt piece and the right feel for his iconic hat. I love how it turned out and I think it fits perfectly into the original figure collection.

See photos of the toys below and pre-order yours on the Hasbro Pulse website. They will be available to ship around April 10th.
