‘M3GAN’, the evil doll that conquered us long before it hit theaters with its viral dance, was one of the first blockbusters this year. Blumhouse’s film is, for the moment, the highest-grossing film of the year in our country with 3.57 million euros in receipts. Worldwide, it exceeded $170 million.
And all this with a “decaffeinated” version to reduce age and thus reach a wider audience., at the expense of the sadism one would expect from a toy that doesn’t misuse coasters. Following its theatrical release, it was announced that we would see an uncensored cut when the film hit streaming platforms and home formats. ‘M3GAN’ is already available on Peacock in the United States with that version, and thanks to media like The Wrap we can already find out what changes it brings.
For starters, the cut is almost as long as the film version (in fact, it’s six seconds shorter). The main additions are more swearing from David (Ronny Chieng), the protagonist’s boss (Allison Williams), and M3GAN himself. when he completely loses his manners.
As far as blood goes, all it does is so as not to disguise the bloodiest moments that we have already guessed in the film. In this version we see how the doll rips off Brandon’s (Jack Cassidy) ear, how David gets stabbed by the katana and how Kurt (Stephane Garneau-Monten) ends up soaked in his boss’s blood and with his neck cut off by M3GAN. These are the main novelties of the uncensored version, which to date does not have a release date in our country because it has not yet been announced when we will be able to see it for digital rental or on Blu-Ray (in France it comes out in May).

After the success of the first chapter, Universal Pictures has already confirmed a sequel which will be called ‘M3GAN 2.0’ and which It has until the release date: January 17, 2025. We’ll see if they allow the doll to fully run wild on the big screen this time around.
