Thanks to Star Trek actor Michael Dornwho plays fan-favorite Klingon warrior Worf in the series, it’s time to dive into some fun Star Trek discussion. It has reignited the debate about which is better Star Trek franchise film is. While many fans consider 1982 Khan’s wrath is the best, with a fan base as diverse as this there is plenty of room for differing opinions.

Enter Michael Dorn, who is making his exciting return to the franchise in Star Trek: Picard Season 3. In the March 2023 issue of SFX Magazine, Dorn shared that his favorite movie in the series is from 1996 Star Trek: First Contact. This may seem like a curveball to some fans, but there’s no denying it First contact it’s not a great movie! Dorn said:
“I always thought The Wrath of Khan was the best Star Trek film, up until First Contact. I thought First Contact was great for many reasons, but one of the main reasons was that everyone contributed, everyone had a story. It was very comprehensive, nobody was left out.”
Dorn’s appreciation for First contact it goes beyond the film itself. Draw parallels between what made the film so successful and the success of Star Trek: Picard. In particular, the fact that each character’s story was well written and given enough time to shine. As Dorn put it:
“I think that [‘Picard’] it’s all the same, that everyone’s story is well written. It must have been hard to write for so many people, but I think they did a great job.”
fans of Picard have been eagerly awaiting the return of the original crew from The next generationand Dorn’s comments should be encouraging to those enthusiastic about the series who were hoping to see these characters shine once again.
As a self-proclaimed Trekking nerd, Dorn’s opinion carries some weight. He’s a big fan of the original series and when someone like him points out a particular Star Trek film as the best of the bunch, it’s worth taking note. He went on to say:
“I’m a big fan of the original [series], like, a big fan. I know every episode, I know all the characters and all the actors. I’m one of those people who would be in a production trying to tell people who each character is.”
Even though I love the original series and Kahn’s Warthi grew up a much bigger fan of The next generation series, e First contact it was one of my all time favorites Star Trek movie since I first saw it as a teenager.
