The Lord of the Rings the films are among the best films in the history of cinema. They have combined a beautiful landscape with incredible storytelling and fantastic acting. They did justice to the books on which they were based, and fans of the novels, as well as newcomers to the lore, thoroughly enjoyed them.

The movies were long, in order to cover their vast story depth, and we’ve even seen extended cuts released for fans to immerse themselves in. But even with those, there was cut footage that never made it into the movies.

According to /Film, in the behind-the-scenes documentary of The lord of the rings: the two towers on the extended edition DVDs and Blu-rays, there is a deleted scene that contains footage from Elijah Wood as Frodo Baggins with makeup resembling a Gollum-like creature. She has thin hair, black nails and blue eyes as pale as her very thin skin. He stands with his back turned, rocking back and forth in mental and physical anguish.

The scene would have occurred shortly after Faramir discovered that Frodo is in possession of the Ring. Approaching the prized possession with the point of his sword, Faramir drives Frodo against the rocks behind him. Suddenly, Frodo grabs the Ring and yells, “No!” and he turns away, trembling with fear. There is a rhythm between the close-ups of Faramir’s startled reaction which indicates where director Peter Jackson removed Faramir’s brief but shocking vision of what would happen if Frodo kept the One Ring.

The sequence of Frodo as Gollum was not included in either the stage or extended versions of The lord of the rings: the two towers. It feels like a scene that could have added some insight and depth to the characters and story, so it would be nice to see that added. Maybe one day the extended extended montage will be released and we will add even more footage to our favorite trilogy!
