They wanted Marvel Studios Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantum Mania to deliver a huge share for the MCU. This is the movie that kickstarted Marvel’s Phase 5 and it does a great job crafting the exciting future of the MCU, especially with the villain Kang.

I guess we’ll see a fourth Ant-Man movie one day, but it won’t be coming any time soon. When the film comes to fruition, however, Paul Rudd gets an idea that it would be a much quieter film and the stakes would be much lower.

During an interview with Yahoo UK, Rudd was asked if they had any ideas planned for a fourth film, and he said:

“[When] I think about it, it’s like this normal guy who doesn’t have any innate super abilities is now pitted against Thanos and Kang. I just feel like giving the guy a break. Let him sit on a beach somewhere. How much abuse can it take? How much punishment?”

Rudd went on to explain that Scott Lang is a dad who’s really just trying to spend time with his daughter, and his resolve is to let that happen. He wants to see a story about Scott and Cassie taking a little road trip together. He explained:

“I think this is a guy who just wants to spend some time with his daughter. That would be nice. Maybe a nice quiet road movie. Just Scott and Cassie visiting a coastal town and hanging out [together]. Maybe like The Journey With [Steve] Coogan and only those where there are no threats. There is nothing that wants to kill them. I don’t know if Marvel would want to make that movie, but it would be fun to make.”

Honestly, such a story is really interesting to me! Marvel will never do that, but a story like that would give these characters a lot more weight. There really is a fun, playful, clever idea to play with, but that’s a story Marvel will never do. They will always focus on stories that offer big stakes, big action sequences, and silly dialogue.
