GHOSTLORE will explore ghost stories told by ghosts

What are the ghost stories that ghosts tell? This is an interesting question that has sparked a new comic series from the writer Cullen Bunn (The empty man), artist Leomac (Basket of heads), colorist Jason Wordie (Abbot), and several guest artists. The series is called Ghost and will feature various ghosts telling stories to a father and daughter who aren’t the only ones who can see ghosts. Sounds like an interesting concept and I like the idea of bringing in a guest artist Brian Hutt for each number is really fascinating.

We’ve all heard of ghost stories…but what ghost stories do ghosts tell themselves?

After a fatal accident, estranged father and daughter Lucas and Harmony Agate can see the dead, a huge amount of them. Each with their own warnings, cries for help and malevolence alike. But the pastor and his daughter aren’t the only ones with this uncanny ability; there are other near-deads, some of whom have malicious intent…

Talking about the concept and bringing it to life, Bunn shared:

Ghostlore is something of an ambitious concept. It started with a simple question I asked myself. “What ghost stories would ghosts tell?” From there, though, it morphed into this epic story of family, loss, grief, and possibly the end of the world. It’s been in my head for a while, but I wanted to wait for the stars to align, shall we say, if only to try. I’m fortunate to work with an artist as talented as Leomacs on the lead story, and I couldn’t be more thrilled with the group of amazing creators who will be illustrating the ghost stories in every single issue. It all comes together in a book unlike anything else I’ve worked on.

Leomac added:

I’m super excited to draw Cullen Bunn’s Ghostlore for BOOM! Studios. This story has pathos, drama, and plenty of emotion to keep everyone on the edge of their seats. As for me, I love a good horror story, especially when the human element is strong and very relatable. There will be many layers here to peel, and underneath you will find more and more elements that will appeal to you, demand your sympathy, scare and move you… and I enjoy drawing every single panel of Ghostlore.

you can read Ghost #1 this May at your local comic book store or wherever you want to buy comics. The main cover features art by Leomacs with variations by Hurtt, Tonchi Zonjic, Reiko MurakamiAND Frisian Jenny also available.
