It’s been three years since then David Port’S Hell boy the reboot has been released. That movie ended up being a huge box office disaster, and I’ve yet to meet anyone who actually enjoyed the movie. Well, according to Discussing Film, Millennium Media is already developing a new Hellboy movie, and Crank, Ghost Rider: Spirit of Vengeance, AND Player co-director Brian Taylor he is said to be directing it.

The film is in development under the temporary title Hellboy: The crooked man, and casting is already underway. There may actually be a new Hellboy casting announcement in the coming weeks. The film could go into production as early as April, so it looks like things are moving pretty quickly.

The title of the film is taken directly from the comic. In history, written by the creator Mike Mignola with late art Richard CorbenHellboy goes to Virginia in the 1950s to confront some witches, and along the way, he runs into The Crooked Man along the way. Mignola and horror/fantasy author Christopher Golden will receive story credit for this new movie.

The description of the cartoon reads:

In 1956, somewhere in the mountains of West Virginia, Hellboy meets Tom, a man who in his youth sold his soul to a woodland demon known as the Crooked Man. Together they return to the dark heart of the Appalachian Mountains to face that demon and see if Tom’s soul can’t be saved. The three-issue series brings together Mignola and legendary horror artist Richard Corben (The Bodyssey, Banner, Punisher: The End, Hellboy: Makoma) in a tale of witchcraft rooted in Appalachian folklore.

This story would make a really great independent Hellboy movie…if it’s done right. The question is… Is Brian Taylor the right director for the job? He has a distinct high energy storytelling style, I’m not sure he’ll translate well into the Hellboy franchise, but maybe he has something different planned. We’ll just have to wait and see!

I just want to be clear that this is a new Hellboy movie should be another reboot, so Ron Perlmann and David Harbor will not reprise their roles. What do you think of Hellboy getting a new reboot?
