Vertical Entertainment has released a trailer for a funny looking movie titled Pinball: the man who saved the game. The film is inspired by the fascinating true story of Roger Sharpe, a GQ reporter and real-life pinball whiz who, in 1976, helped overturn the 35-year ban on pinball machines in New York City.

The film was directed by the Bragg brothers, Austin AND Meredith Braggwith which they make their feature film debut Mike Faist (West Side History) intended to star in the film along with Crystal Cane AND Dennis Boutsikaris.

In the film, “An unstable writer with a cool mustache, Roger Sharpe (Faist), finds comfort and confidence in one thing he has learned: the pinball machine. When a police raid destroys the only cars he can find in 1970s New York City, he discovers that the game is illegal. Roger reluctantly joins forces with the Music and Amusement Association to lift the ban as he falls for Ellen, an artist and single mother. Roger’s path to saving the pinball machine ultimately saves him. He and Ellen get over their pasts and attempt love. Roger learns what it means to take risks, and that commitment is the most rewarding gamble of all. Based on a true story.”

The rest of the cast includes Christopher Convery, Connor Ratliff, Mike Doyle, Charles LopezAND Bryan Batt. The film appears to be a fun screwball comedy that tells the inspirational story of a pinball nerd who tries to stand up for what he loves!

The film will be released in select theaters and on VOD on March 17, 2023.
