‘Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania’: The Post-Credits Scenes, Explained

‘Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania, the 31st film from Marvel Studios and the one in charge of ushering in Phase 5 of the Marvel Cinematic Universe is now in theaters. The third installment of the Ant-Man solo saga sets the stage for the storyline that will culminate in “Avengers: The Kang Dynasty”introducing Kang the Conqueror, the new variant of the supervillain played by Jonathan Majors, and who in this new film assumes an important role within the MCU, as we have been warned.

As Marvelite lore dictates, “Quantumania” does two post-credits scenes. And whoever warns is not a traitor: both are important and worth sticking with until the end.

‘Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania’: The Post-Credits Scenes, Explained

Warning, SPOILERS!

*From here, the article includes spoilers for “Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania”. If you haven’t seen it yet or don’t want to know the ending, don’t read on!

Kang’s advice

The first of the two scenes comes right after the credits and it’s big, big. After our family of heroes defeats Kang and disintegrates his time chair core to prevent him from escaping and traveling further into the Multiverse, we witness a gathering of Kang variations, all played by Majors. At the beginning of the scene we see three Kangs, with which it would correspond by their appearance Immortus, Rama-Tut and (possibly) Scarlet Centurion, versions of the super-villain taken directly from the Marvel comics. The three refer to the Kang of “Quantumania” as “the exile” and they complain that he was killed by others, rather than by them. Next, Immortus mentions the Multiverse and as the branching timelines of “Loki” are shown, the villain says “If we let them, they’ll take away everything we’ve built. So let’s stop wasting our time”. asks the centurion “How many were summoned?”to which Immortus replies: “To All of Us”. The scene ends with a sweep that shows us hundreds of variants of Kang collected in a sort of coliseum. While there are too many to identify one by one, the final shot highlights a Kang Skrull as well as another with blue skin, among many others.

Victor Timely

The second post-credits scene comes right at the end and is shorter, but also very juicy. In it we are transported to the past (perhaps to the early 20th century), where a man named Victor Timely – another variant of Kang played by Majors, also from the comics – is demonstrating some kind of machine, telling everyone ‘hearing that time is everything, that it shapes our lives, but maybe we can shape it too. In the comics, Timely is an industrialist who founds a Wisconsin town named after him, using future technology to make the place a marvel ahead of its time. Back on stage, in the audience we end up with two much loved characters, dressed in period costumes, who attend the demonstration: Loki (Tom Hiddleston) and Mobius (Owen Wilson).. Loki tells Mobius “and he”Mobius adds, “You made me look like a terrifying figure”to which the God of Deceit replies: “AND”. Like this, ‘Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania’ ties directly into season 2 of ‘Loki’which does not yet have an official release date, but is scheduled for this summer.

Who is the main character?

Another Marvel Studios movie tradition is to add a text message after the last post-credits scene telling us (if so) that this isn’t the last time we’ll see the main hero in the MCU, thus emphasizing the interconnection between all the studio’s projects. However, in “Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania”, this message does not refer to Scott Lang/Ant-Man (whom we assume we will see again in the future), but to the film’s antagonist: “KANG WILL RETURN”. In this way, Marvel once again underlines the importance of this complex character, the great villain of the Multiverse Saga, against whom the Avengers will have to confront in the future.

“Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantummania” it’s already in theaters. ‘Avengers: The Kang Dynasty’ will be released on May 2, 2025.
