In the series: “Arriving in Atlantic City to compete in a prestigious fighting tournament, the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles quickly clash with the famous Street Fighter crew… to prove their mettle in combat, the two teams instantly clash , sparking a sizzling rivalry that can only be resolved with fists and steel (and maybe a Hurricane Kick or two). With tensions already running high, the pressure is mounting even more as both teams find themselves drawn into a wave of mysterious disappearances plaguing the city. Could this be the fault of the tournament’s mysterious benefactor?”
The five-issue miniseries was written by Paolo Alloriand will contain the art of Ariel Medel and colors of Sarah Mier. Allor said in a statement: “It’s amazing to bring these iconic brands together. I grew up with all of these characters, albeit in very different ways, watching TNT extension cartoons on Saturday mornings, and then a few years later, desperately smashing buttons as it was utterly destroyed Street Fighter™ II. Readers will have so much fun watching these characters come together as they face a huge threat to both teams, from the unlikely bond of Mikey and Chun-Li to the rivalry and mutual but very grudging respect of Raph and Guile. This book has it all: humor, danger, a huge number of twists and lots of amazing, brutal, over the top, crazy fight scenes! It’s going to be fun.”
Medel added, “My head hasn’t stopped exploding since they offered me the project, not only because these characters have influenced me in so many ways personally since their debut, but also because they’re such familiar names! I’ve been watching the cartoons animated and the film, I’ve played the games, so it’s very special in that sense as well. In my mind, this is the mother of all crossovers, and to be able to draw both properties in the same comic is just amazing.”
IDW senior editor Charles Beacham said, “Whether you’re a die-hard fan of both franchises or have an affinity for one or the other, this book will blow your mind. Paul, Ariel and Sarah they crammed every ounce of fun into every page and every fight will have fans biting their nails. But that’s not all. As the TMNTs take on Street Fighter legends to prove who’s truly the best at kicking ass, both teams will learn that “There is something more nefarious afoot. We at IDW are incredibly excited to partner with Capcom to bring together two of the most popular fighting teams in this massive match!”
Love what IDW is doing with these crossover comics, wish we could see some adapted into animated shows!
