A new series is being adapted to Peacock entitled Apples never falland is based on the book of the same name by writer Liane Moriarty, who wrote the novels behind the hit series Little big lies at HBO, and Nine complete strangers at Hulu. Sam Neill (Jurassic Park) has joined the limited series and will star alongside previously announced cast members Annette Bening (american beauty, Death on the Nile).
According to the official logline, the series “centers on the Delaneys, who from the outside appear to be an enviably contented family. Former tennis coaches Joy (Bening) and Stan (Neill) are parents to four grown children. After decades of marriage, they have finally sold their famous tennis academy and are ready to begin what should be the golden years of their lives. But after Joy’s disappearance, her children are forced to re-examine their parents’ marriage and family history with fresh eyes.
Melanie Marnich will adapt the book for the screen and also serve as executive producer and showrunner. David Heyman will executive produce via Heyday Television. Moriarty also serves as an executive producer alongside Albert Page and Jillian Share. Chris Sweeney will executive produce and direct several episodes, including the first.
So far I’m a huge fan of Moriarty’s books and his adapted series. I can’t wait for another of his exciting stories to hit the screen. His books Husband’s secretAND Truly insanely guilty are both in development, with Blake Lively set to star Husband’s secret.
