I liked it, and now I’ve learned it Airplane is getting a sequel titled Shipanother bad title, but it fits perfectly with the action franchise that the producers are trying to build.

Mike Colter will star in the sequel and Airplane director Jean-Francois Richet will return to steer it. Gerard Butler won’t star in the film, but could make a cameo.
Colter played accused assassin and former French legionnaire Louis Gaspar in Airplane and the sequel will obviously focus on him. He narrowly escaped extradition to Toronto when Trailblazer Flight 119 touched down on a dangerous Philippine island and formed an unlikely partnership with Butler’s character Captain Brodie Torrance to rescue the plane’s passengers and crew. by pirates.
The sequel’s story “will pick up where Gaspar’s storyline left off, with the legionnaire disappearing into the jungles of Jolo Island. After a high-octane showdown with the local militia on the shores of Jolo, Gaspar manages to commandeer a fishing boat and flee the Philippines. But the media circus surrounding Flight 119 has raised his public profile, making him the subject of an international manhunt. Hoping to stay under the radar and get away from his last known location, Gaspar jumps aboard a cargo ship in East Asia bound for South Africa. As he prepares for a long voyage, the stowaway discovers that the ocean-going vessel carries more than cargo: it is also being used as a ferry for a human trafficking ring.
It is explained that he will team up with the ship’s “second mate/navigator, a last minute addition to the crew who was unaware of his illicit activities, and a passenger with military experience and a bone to pick, Gaspar embarks on a mission to take down the ship’s corrupt captain, keep his innocent passengers safe, and free his captives.
Looks like this will make for a solid sequel! Casting is currently in progress.
