Cody Longo, American actor and singer also known as Cody Anthony, has died at the age of 34 in Austin, Texas. According to TMZ, the young performer was found lifeless in his bed Wednesday February 8, after his wife, Stephanie Clark, called the police from the dance studio where she works in Austin (Texas) to go to her house to check if something was wrong, because her husband was not answering the phone. The couple had three children, a 7-year-old girl and two 5-year-old boys.
Longo was born in 1988 and has been working in show business since 2006. In addition to releasing various songs and video clips, the actor has had small roles in series such as ‘Nashville’, ‘CSI’, ‘CSI: New York’, ‘Five Brothers ‘ , ‘Medium’ or ‘Secrets and lies’. He has also appeared in the films ‘Piranha 3D’ and ‘Wildflower’, and in several episodes of the long running American soap opera ‘Days of Our Lives’. His longest role was in ‘Hollywood Heights’, a Nickelodeon series in which he played one of its leadsa rock star named Eddie Duran, for 78 episodes.
His wife posted a statement saying the following: “Cody was our entire world. The kids and I are completely torn apart. We will miss and love you forever.”. His agent, Alex Gittelson, adds: “Cody was a close friend for a decade before becoming my client. My heart breaks for his beautiful family. He was taking a break from acting to pursue a music career and spend more time with his family in Nashville , but we were in regular contact and I was very excited to get back into acting this year. Cody was a very loyal, caring and talented person, and he will be greatly missed.”.
Possible cause of death
While the exact cause of death has not been confirmed, a relative of Longo believes it could be a relapse into alcohol, as he tells TMZ. The relative, who offered his statements anonymously, assures the newspaper that Cody had suffered from alcoholism for years and went to a rehabilitation center last summer. Authorities are currently investigating his death.
