The creator of “Spartacus” announces a new sequel series

After the defeat of the slave army in “Spartacus” we thought it was very difficult to review the gladiators created by Steven S. DeKnight. Well, ten years after the end of the series, the creator announces that a new sequel series is in development.

“It will be a new story of betrayal, deceit and blood that will take place under the menacing shadow of Rome”DeKnight calls this new chapter opening for lovers from the popular 2010 series. According to Deadline, the series aims to explore “unknown territory and new chapters of iconic characters from the original series”.

The series is ongoing for the Starz channel. It is not yet known where we can taste it in Spain. What is also unknown is the shooting start date, cast and premiere. However, from the Starz executive you can hear a good synergy with the seriesAs programming president Kathryn Busby put it: “It has been more than a decade since ‘Spartacus’ delighted international audiences. We are thrilled to reinvent and expand this gripping, action-packed drama for today’s viewers.”.

DeKnight also praised this union, clarifying that his intentions with the series are do something great: “Together we are creating something truly unique and unusual for the next chapter in this epic story”Add.

‘Spartacus’ universe

‘Spartacus’ has three seasons. The series would tell the life and deeds of the gladiator Spartacus. However, at the end of the first season they had to change their itinerary after their leading man, Andy Whitfield, fell ill. During his illness Whitfield was unable to record, time that helped the creators shoot a prequel, which would finally see the light as “Spartacus: Gods of the arena”. Unfortunately Whitfield died of cancer seven months after the season kicked off.

Now a new world full of possibilities opens up at DeKnight’s feetwho will serve as showrunner and co-executive producer of the series.
