Amazon Studios is producing an animated adaptation of the Scott Snyder AND Jockcomic series created Witches. I’ve never read this comic, but I know it and it has the potential to make for a great show! I like these kinds of stories!

The series will tell the story of “17-year-old Sailor Rooks, whose family moves to a remote New England town after a tragic accident, only to find a lair of monsters – ancient creatures that prey on our darkest fears and desires – hides under the city.
Snyder and Jock will both serve as executive producers on the project alongside Plan B Entertainment, Project 51 Productions’ Kevin Kolde and Amazon Studios.
Melissa Wolfhead of animation at Amazon Studios, said in a statement: “Driven by the union of Scott and Jock together with our partners at Plan B and Project 51 Productions, Witches blends nail-biting horror and evocative drama as she unearths the dark lore surrounding an ancient witches’ lair. Given the unsettling and intimate nature of Scott and Jock’s comic series, we look forward to bringing their creative vision to our global audience and expanding our growing roster of animated series.”
Snyder said: “Witches it is perhaps my most personal work. It’s about the monsters that dwell beneath the surface of things, both literally and figuratively. I’ve been intimately involved with this animated series from the beginning, and I can honestly say that I love this show as much as the book, if not more. The animation brings Jock’s incredible art to life, and the episodic format expands the world of “Wytches,” taking the characters and mythology to new and terrifying places. Jock and I are deeply grateful to Plan B Entertainment, Kevin Kolde and Amazon Studios for believing in us Witches and giving us the ability to make this show dark, personal, twisted and very special.
Witches was originally published by Image Comics. It ran for six issues between October 2014 and March 2015. Are you excited to hear that this comic is being adapted? Do you think it will be a good series?
