Cranston spoke about the announcement in an interview with EW, saying:

“The folks at PopCorners may have heard interviews about how much we love working together, and I’m not sure how they came up with the idea. But once we heard the creativity behind it and what they wanted to do, to really re-establish the authenticity of the i characters, the wardrobe, the RV and everything, we were intrigued. It’s fun, after nearly seven years on the job [Breaking Bad], we didn’t get many opportunities to enjoy ourselves, due to the intensity of the show. This was different because we spent three days just smiling and laughing and enjoying each other’s company and wearing these costumes that meant so much to us, as well as the show itself.

“I realized when Aaron and I were looking at creativity and having fun with the characters, we’re not making fun of the characters, and that was important to us, to be able to stay in character. Characters don’t break and they are not joking. I am what I am”.

Cranston went on to talk about the fun experience of shooting the commercial, saying:

“We were just smiling the whole time and looking back at each other’s clothes, and the sensitivity and the way Raymond Cruz as Tuco talked, how Jesse talked. Even how Walt talked. We all had our distinctive ways of communicating. It was just so much fun. That’s one of the main reasons we did it. One, PopCorners was going to stay true to the Breaking Bad milieu, which was really important to us. And the second thing is: we’re just going to have a lot of fun. Like I said, we didn’t get many opportunities to just laugh and smile during the production of Breaking Bad because of the content.”

You can definitely tell they all enjoyed making it! Cranston went on to say:

“April 3 of this year, so just two months apart, was the last day of filming for Breaking Bad [10 years ago]. And when we were all in a bunch out there in the middle of the desert, everyone was talking about what that meant to us. We thought it would be the last time we played those characters. And then we had another opportunity in the movie El Camino, and then it was like, ‘Oh! So it may not be the last.’ So we stopped saying, “This is the last time we’re going to do that.” Who knows? Could be. I’m not sure, but… you know, we’ll leave it to fate.”
