The power of the human brain is still unexplored, but what is certain is that a story becomes more personal when it alludes to issues that cross many people, but which must be seen with certain eyes. These psychological thrillers aim to do just that, i.e. play with your mind from start to finish, so that you leave yourself thinking about the implications of what you just saw.
To start with one of best psychological thriller movies, the list opens with “Hidden Secrets”, a horror drama by Sergio G. Sánchez, starring George MacKay, Mia Goth, Anya Taylor-Joy and Charlie Heaton which follows four orphaned brothers who do not want to be separated and who go into hiding in an old farm that hides a disturbing secret. Identity
John Cusack and Ray Liotta starred in this one psychological thriller that plays with your mind. This is a James Mangold film titled ‘Identity’, in which a group of ten strangers are forced to take shelter from the storm in a Nevada motel, and while the conditions outside are inclement, a killer begins to terrorize them. Available on YouTube.
Forgotten
Jang Hang-jun directs this psychological thriller that won’t let you sleep. It is ‘Forgotten’, a Korean film in which a man who can’t remember what happened in the last 19 days, searches what happened with his brother’s kidnapping during all that time. Available on the Netflix platform.

Triangle
In another terror log, we have ‘Triangle’, which is inspired by one of the most popular and explored mysteries and conspiracy theories in history. Christopher Smith is the director of this story that follows the passengers of a yacht who, during their journey, find themselves in the middle of a mysterious area that causes them to jump onto another even more dangerous ship. Available on Amazon Prime Video and Claro.
Audition
Takashi Miike is one of Japan’s most interesting and daring Japanese filmmakers. In 1999, ‘Audition’ was released, a suspense film in which Eihi Shiina brings Yamazari Asami to life, a mysterious woman who auditions in which a widowed man is casting for a non-existent film, which ends up being the search for her new wife.
The devil at all hours
With an ensemble cast led by Tom Holland, Bill Skarsgard, Robert Pattinson, Haley Bennet and many others, we have “The devil at all hours” by Antonio Campos. The story follows a boy who is dedicated to protecting his sister and her loved ones in a city where corruption and people with dark intentions are the bread and butter. Available on Netflix.
