There are more and more testimonials from actors reflecting on the impact that physical pressure has had to play the roles. A few days ago Robert Pattinson told about it and now his co-star in ‘Twilight’ joins him. Taylor Lautner has confessed that it was difficult growing up doing the saga, both for the fans and for the physical demands. “When I was in my 16-20s, playing in this franchise where my character is known to take off his shirt every once in a while, I didn’t know that it was affecting me or would affect me in the future with body image.”he tells in the podcast he shares with his wife Taylor Dome Lautner via Buzzfeed. “But looking back now, obviously he did, and obviously he will.”.

“It Wasn’t My Natural Body”admits Lautner, referring to the body he had sculpted to play the young werewolf. “I had to work very hard to get it and keep it”. The actor described that the process of getting Jacob’s physique was a “absolute nightmare”: he had to gain more than thirty pounds of muscle and eat at least 5,000 calories a day to maintain his required weight. To do this, I essentially ate “raw sweet potatoes and turkey meatballs and protein shakes that were essentially just mudtells. “It was difficult”. This brings to mind Pattinson’s words, who also shared that he ate boiled potatoes and pink Himalayan salt for two weeks.
When the saga ended, Lautner decided “rebel” against the gym, thus recovering his physique. “What happens when you don’t want to see a gym?” You start to lose those six pack abs. I started to have a more normal body.”, He says. It was after filming the 2016 movie ‘Run the Tide’ that he realized the emotional toll the physical demands had on him. “My character should [en ‘Run the Tide’] He’s not a bodybuilder or muscle guy at all.”He explained. “I thought it was cool. But then I saw on the internet a scene of me shirtless in the ocean from ‘Eclipse’ or whatever, where they were like ‘Wow, that’s awesome'”. She seriously wondered if she really was “he left”. He assures her that she was “difficult” see people’s comments. “I didn’t think it was that bad”.
the competition
Physique isn’t the only aspect that emotionally affected Taylor Lautner after her ‘Twilight’ tour. When asked on The Toast podcast if he was influenced by the fan base being split between Team Edward and Team Jacob, she states: “I’d be lying if I didn’t let it hit me”. Lautner explains: “I was very young. I was 16 when ‘Twilight’ came out, 17 with ‘New Moon’ and ‘Eclipse’. I closed the franchise when I was 19. I was so young and yes, I feel like it was very strange traveling the world and being in different cities and having thousands of fans screaming on your side or the other guy’s side. We are a team. We’re both trying to make the best movies.”. She claims there really wasn’t any competition between him and Pattinson, but “Having that constant reminder I think definitely had an impact”.
