Vince Gilligan, the creator of “Breaking Bad,” writes and directs the Super Bowl announcement that brought together three of the main players of the series. The commercial belongs to the snack brand PopCorners, which introduces us to the product through large references to some of the most iconic phrases of the series.
In the ad, we see Jesse marveling at Heisenberg’s new creation: addictive cheese-flavored nachos. “You are an artist!”the young man says to him, to which White replies: “Actually, Jesse, they’re just basic ingredients”in clear reference to the sentence of the pilot episode, as well as Pinkman’s answer when, unable to stop eating, his mentor scolds him by telling him “No, we don’t take our goods”. But Pinkman is too excited: “Everyone will want to try it and I know the perfect guy”. Here it comes into play The big surprise: actor Raymond Cruzwho returns to the role of Tuco and urges them to make not just six flavors, but seven different flavors, which is the main idea behind the ad.

“We hope the fans see it and smile like we smiled when we did it”Bryan Cranston tells Entertainment Weekly. Having fun was one of the big reasons why they joined together: “It’s funny, almost seven years after we made ‘Breaking Bad,’ we haven’t had many chances to enjoy it, due to the intensity of the show.”points out. “This was different because we had three days where we just smiled and laughed and enjoyed each other’s company, and wearing those costumes meant a lot to us, as did the show itself.”.
A real caravan
The scene of the announcement is more than recognizable for fans of the series: it is recorded in the caravan of Walt and Jesse in the middle of the desert of Albuquerque, New Mexico. What’s really special is that the vehicle is one of the three original trailers used in the series and is the same one found on Sony setswith which fans take pictures, according to Cranston, who assures it “seeing the bullet holes in the door and everything is almost like being in a dream”as if they had returned to the past.
This 2023 marks a decade since the end of ‘Breaking Bad’who however continued his legacy through his spin-offs of ‘El Camino: A Breaking Bad Movie’ and ‘Better Call Saul’ series, which concluded in 2022.
