Want to see something really cool? The video below shows four planets orbiting a star 130 light years away! This is a time-lapse video taken over the course of 12 years. This kind of thing drives me crazy! The video was shared on YouTube by Jason Wang and came with the following note:
An updated time-lapse of the previous 7-year time-lapse! HR 8799 hosts four orbiting super-Jupiters with periods ranging from decades to centuries. We monitored this system using the Keck Observatory on Maunakea. This video was made using real images taken from the telescope. Motion interpolation was used on 10 images of HR 8799 taken over 12 years to create this film.
This is just a small corner of the universe. Enjoy.
