The ‘The Mandalorian’ and ‘The Last of Us’ actor opened with a monologue in which he joked with choose the HBO series which was filmed in the cold forests of Canada “while being chased by a guy with a face that looks like a genital wart”instead of a luxury resort in Italy (like “The White Lotus”). He also said that it is still difficult for him to be recognized on the street, especially when someone asks him to make a video call with his 6-year-old son while putting on Din Djarin’s voice. “It’s a voice to put in the room. Without the mask on it sounds like porn. People walking past me must have wondered what I was doing whispering to a 6 year old ‘can I give it to you hot or cold’”.

The Chilean had a moment in the monologue in which emotion almost overwhelmed him. She started by joking about his family in Chile and how proud they are of him. “why do they keep giving out my personal phone number to everyone who asks”. She then recalled how her parents emigrated to the United States when she was only nine months old to flee the Pinochet dictatorship: “They were very brave and without them I would not be here today in this wonderful country. And I certainly wouldn’t be standing here in front of you tonight. So to all my family in Chile I just want to say (switch to Spanish) I love you, I miss you and stop giving my personal information.”he said as his voice cracked.

“He’s Dad and I’m Mom”

Throughout the program, Pascal performed in several sketches accompanied by the usual “Saturday Night Live” comedians, and in one of them he was accompanied by Sarah Paulson. The two did a skit where, as teachers, they asked students to stop fancaming teachers. At one point in the sketch Paulson admits: “Ok, that’s right, he’s a dad and I’m a mom and we’re a happy family.we don’t even leave the crumbs”.

But the most viral sketch of the night was the parody of “The Last of Us”, marked by a rather unexpected video game. Parodying the HBO series, the show imagined what “Mario Kart” would be like if it were a drama like Naughty Dog’s video game adaptation, starring Pedro Pascal as the famed plumber. Not only do we hear the actor deliver some of Mario’s most iconic lines (watch out, Chris Pratt), but we also get to see the Mushroom Kingdom in dystopian mode.to characters like Toad and Yoshi adapted to this scenario (both are bisexual, like “HBO’s complex and dramatic characters”) and how Ellie is a tempted Princess Peach.

‘The Last of Us’ premieres its fourth episode on HBO Max on Monday, February 6.
