AMC has renewed Anna Rice’S The Witches of Mayfair for a second season. That’s not surprising since the series has become the network’s new number one series on its AMC+ streaming service. I just started watching it and so far it’s really good, I’m enjoying it.
The Witches of Mayfair stars Alexandra Daddario (Percy Jackson, The White Lotus) as Dr. Rowan Fielding, “an intuitive young neurosurgeon who discovers she is the unlikely heir to a family of witches. As she grapples with her newfound powers, she must contend with a sinister presence that has haunted her family for generations.
The series is part of the Anne Rice universe that AMC is building, which also includes Interview with the Vampire. There are also plans for a crossover of the two shows, which will be interesting to see.
Producer Mark Johnson said in a statement: “The success of both Mayfair Witches and Interview with the Vampire once again illustrates the strength and artistry of Anne Rice’s work. The fact that these first two shows are performing so splendidly with television audiences gives us a lot of pride in what we have already done and great anticipation for the storytelling opportunities that are yet to come.
Added showrunner and executive producer Esta Spalding, “Anne Rice’s The Lives of the Mayfair Witches is a grand epic tale that we’ve only just begun to explore. I am very grateful to the fans and viewers of the show who have given us the opportunity to continue telling this story.”
The Witches of Mayfair even stars Jack Houston, Tongai Chirisa AND Harry Hamlin. Production on season 2 will begin later this year in New Orleans.
