David Harbor is a guy with a sense of humor and it was clear he wasn’t going to let something like a box office flop ruin his life, especially considering he worked for many years and became a huge success soon after usual, at the usually in Hollywood. After the outbreak of the Netflix phenomenon “Stranger Things”, Harbor became a sought-after actor overnight and seized the opportunity to make the leap into blockbuster cinema with the ‘Hellboy’ reboot.. The film, however, was a critical and box office success, though that didn’t stop them from continuing to knock on his door.

And speaking of knocking on the door, the New York actor stars with his wife, the British singer Lily Allen, in a video from Architectural Digest in which the couple gives us a guided tour of their stately home in Brooklyn. It is not the first time that Harbour, passionate about architecture and decoration, has shown one of his properties. In 2019, another video from AD went viral, showcasing his ultra-stylish New York apartment, revealing his good taste and knack for renovation.
Her latest tour is totally worth it if you’re into decor and want to dream (and cry) about a home you’ll probably never have, but there’s one specific moment at the 8:50 mark that’s got people’s attention. When Harbor shows him his dressing room (yes, they each have their own), he reveals a framed still of his version of “Hellboy” hidden behind their hats. It is understandable that the photo is no longer visible, but why do you have it there? His explanation is simple: “When I feel especially good about myself, I always like to remember where I’m from”.
In other words, Harbor saves the photo to stay humble and down-to-earth when success threatens to go to his head. Despite the failure of “Hellboy”, Harbor hasn’t given up on trying commercial cinema, and the truth is that so far nothing is going wrong. He just starred in the Christmas action movie “Silent Night” which already has a sequel in the works and is the star of the cast of the movie “Gran Turismo”. Not forgetting, of course, that He is part of the Marvel Cinematic Universe as the anti-hero Red Guardian, who we will see again in ‘Thunderbolts’.
A failed attempt to renew a franchise
Directed by Neil Marshall, ‘Hellboy’ was released in 2019 with the idea of rebooting the saga of the character created by Mike Mignola and previously popularized on the big screen by Ron Perlman in two films directed by Guillermo del Toro.
The new version, proposed ultra-violent and more faithful to the comics co-stars Ian McShane and Milla Jovovich, it was panned by critics (17% on Rotten Tomatoes) and did extremely well at the box office, grossing just $51 million worldwide., with an approximate budget of 50 million. Although it was conceived as the beginning of a new saga, sequel plans did not materialize after such an outcome.
