Based on the graphic novel by McGuire, Here is described as a breathtaking and groundbreaking odyssey through time and memory. The groundbreaking story centers on a place in New England where from a wilderness, and then, later, a home: love, loss, struggle, hope and legacy unfold between couples and families over the generations.

We now know that the story will feature Hanks and Wright as their younger selves. Zemeckis spoke about the technology they will be using to make this happen in a press release:

“I’ve always been drawn to technology that helps me tell a story. With HERE, the film simply wouldn’t work without our actors seamlessly transforming into younger versions of themselves. Metaphysic’s AI tools make exactly that, in ways that were previously impossible! Having tested every type of aging and face replacement technology available today, Metaphysic is clearly the global leader in quality AI content and the perfect choice for this incredibly thought-provoking and emotional film.”

Joanna Popper, Chief Metaverse Officer, CAA, added:

“Metaphysicians are industry leaders in using Generative AI and Machine Learning to create Hollywood-quality photoreal content, combined with their ethics-based approach and thought leadership, unlock an incredible opportunity for the entertainment industry and beyond. Artificial intelligence will have a transformative impact on content creation and intellectual property. CAA has always been at the forefront of new technological frontiers and we are excited to work with Metaphysic to bring the most exciting opportunities to our customers and the industry”.

Thomas Graham, CEO and co-founder of Metaphysic also mentioned:

“Metaphysics is rapidly expanding the creative horizons in Hollywood and beyond. Our tools are affordable, cinematic quality and scalable – we are forced to reinvent the way visual media is produced. With the support of CAA and working on projects such as Here, “Metaphysic is demonstrating the transformative power of hyperreal AI to shape the future of entertainment and to help people create immersive AI-generated photoreal content while owning and controlling their data.”

ImageMovers by Zemeckis and Jack Rapke (Flight, Polar Express, Cast Away) will produce together with Block (The Lords, Furyimminent The Remaining). Block of Miramax called it “a privilege to serve the vision of these renowned creators. We can’t wait to bring this unique visual and emotional experience to the world.”

The film also has the cast Kelly Reilly (Yellowstone) AND Paul Bettany (A brilliant mind, Wanda Vision). Here went into production last fall, and we should be hearing talks about a release date soon.
