Jason Bateman (Bad language) will direct an upcoming film for Warner Bros. titled The Pinkertonwhich is described as a supernatural revenge western. JJ Abrams’ Bad Robot acquired the project a couple of years ago. Abrams will be a producer on the project and has been sold as a spec by F9‘S Daniele Casei.
The film is inspired by the Pinkertons, “a private security guard and detective agency founded in the United States by Scotsman Allan Pinkerton in the 1850s. Pinkerton became famous when he claimed to have foiled a plot to assassinate President-elect Abraham Lincoln, who later hired Pinkerton agents for his personal security during the Civil War.”
There are no details on the story of the film, but I’m intrigued by the concept! It will be interesting to see what that ends up being. This is the first original film project for Bad Robot since they signed a big deal with Warner Bros.
