The directors of Scream VI they promise that this next entry in the film franchise will be a very different experience than the other Scream movies we’ve seen. One of the biggest changes is the setting, as the next chapter of the story will take place in New York City.

The directors are now teasing a few other things that will set this movie apart from the rest, including the new version of Ghostface that the last movie’s survivors will have to deal with and the crazy fast pace of the movie. When it comes to Ghostface, co-director Matt Bettinelli-Olpin he told Total Film:
“We wanted to make it really different, while still having all the things you love. Having a bolder, cheekier Ghostface was a big part of that.”
He was previously teased by Melissa Barrara that things were going to be decidedly gorider in this film as Ghostface is out on his killing spree. She said:
“There was a saying on set because (the directors) Matt [Bettinelli-Olpin] and Tyler [Gillett] they demanded more and more blood and sweat. They always just wanted more. “More blood spritzer” was the saying because they always wanted more. With the latest Scream, they were on their toes and trying to be very respectful of what the franchise had been, up to that point, and keep their inner gory dreams at bay. But with that, they said, ‘We’re doing everything.’ It’s potentially a hundred times bloodier.”
Co-director Tyler Gillette he goes on to talk about the pacing of the film and how that too has been taken to the next level. In fact, he says the new film will run like it’s powered by rocket fuel and that means they’ve had to sacrifice the fun meta-humor that makes the Scream franchise unique. He said:
“It really moves like it’s powered by rocket fuel. You sit down, it starts and the movie is just one ride. You get off two hours later and it feels like you haven’t caught your breath.
“This begins and ends. So there really aren’t these big pockets to talk about other movies. Of course it has all the funny nods and meta commentary. But we really loved how fast-paced this story is. accelerated the process of realization”.
This will be interesting to see. I hope it’s good, I hope it doesn’t just slip into what generic horror has become. Making a horror movie more brutal and faster and gorier doesn’t make a better movie. Hopefully they manage to keep the heart and soul of what makes the Scream franchise special.
The next chapter in the horror saga “continues with the four survivors of the Ghostface murders as they leave Woodsboro behind and begin a new chapter.”
The cast also includes Jenna Ortega as Tara Carpenter, Jasmine Savoy Brown like Mindy, Freemason Gooding like Chad, Samara texture, Liana Liberato, Hayden Panettiere such as Kirby, e Dermot Mulroney. Courtney Cox he also previously confirmed his involvement. Some newcomers include the actor Dermot Mulroney And Mission Impossible star Henry Czernymore Jack Champion (Avengers: Endgame, Avatar: Water Road), Liana Liberato (Light as a feather), Devyn Nekoda (sneaker), And Josh Segarra (Adrian Chase of Arrow).
Scream VI will bring Ghostface back to theaters on March 10, 2023.
