EXCLUSIVE: Aimee Carrero (The menu) is set to direct the buddy action comedy code 3 opposite Rainn Wilson and Lil Rel Howery. Production begins in February.
She will play Jessica, an aspiring paramedic who is hard-working, well-trained and excels under pressure. In the 24-hour shift she trains to replace Randy (Wilson), she has an incredible day ahead of her full of surprises and realizations.
Director Christopher Leone’s film follows a day in the life of two overworked, underpaid and nearly burned-out paramedics. A paramedic is so exhausted from work that he forces himself to quit, even though he has to work one last 24-hour shift to train his replacement. Then, on that final, exciting day, anything that can happen at work happens, from the mundane to the extreme.
The script for code 3 comes from Leone and former paramedic Patrick Pianezza. Angela Cardon will oversee the project for Wayfarer Studios and will serve as sole financier. Producers include Wayfarer’s Justin Baldoni and Andrew Calof, Circle of Confusion’s Lawrence Mattis, Electro Corduroy Entertainment’s Matt Smith and Realdream’s Paul “Pizza” Pianezza. Wilson and Howery will executive produce, as will Steve Sarowitz for Wayfarer and Mike Jones for Silver Hearts Productions. Megan Herring is associate producer on Circle of Confusion.
Carrero’s breakout role was in Season 2 of FX The American play the character of Lucia. She is currently starring in the Fox Searchlight film The menu with Ralph Fiennes and Anya Taylor-Joy, now streaming on HBO Max. She also starred in the Apple TV+ Vacation Movie Funny opposite Ryan Reynolds and Will Ferrell.
It will then appear regularly as a series on Amazon The consultant with Christoph Waltz in the role of Patti.
