THE GREAT BRITISH BUMP-OFF aims to mix baking competitions with Agatha Christie-style mystery

What happens if you mix The great British pastry show And Agatha Christie? Well, you might get something like The Great British Battle. The writer’s next limited series John Allisonartist Massimo Sarinand colorist Sammy Borras sounds great. Over the four issues, fans will follow a woman who just wants to win a baking contest but ends up having to solve a murder. She looks very funny honestly.

When she enters her country’s favorite baking competition, Shauna Wickle’s goal is to delight the judges, charm the nation, and make friends along the way. But when another contestant is poisoned, it’s up to you to catch the culprit while avoiding premature elimination from the UK Bakery Tent…and be the poisoner’s next victim!

Speaking about the series, Allison shared:

I made a lot of comics, read a lot of mysteries and ate a lot of cake. You could tell I’ve been preparing for this series since I tasted my first fondant fantasy. And since I’m working with Max and Sammy again, readers can rest assured that the packaging will taste as good as it tastes.

I for one am excited to read The Great British Battle #1 when it hits local comic stores on April 12. The issue will also have a fun variant cover by artist Dan Hipp. If you prefer collections, all four issues will be collected for a paperback edition and available for pre-order soon from local comic stores and bookstores. The collection will be available starting November 1st.
