It has been four years since it was announced that the Warm bodies The zombie book series was getting a series adaptation, but we haven’t had any updates since. I just thought the pandemic ended up killing the project but the author Isaac Mario it kind of offers an update, and in an interview with SYFY Wire he said:
“There was a time when it seemed like a sure thing, contracts were being made etc, but for some reason it keeps slipping. Talk of a movie sequel turned into a TV series, which was actually announced as ‘in development’ a couple of years ago, only to mysteriously shut up. I’m only marginally involved at this point, so I don’t really know what’s going on behind the scenes. It’s all a big joke to me. But they picked all four books for TV, so it’s still possible. To me, Warm Bodies is just the opening act of the story — it’s actually 18 percent of the total word count — so it would be a dream to see the rest on screen one day. “
He’s not entirely sure what’s going on or why the series has been stalled, but he hopes it will one day. The 2013 film with Nicholas Hoult And Teresa Palmar it was big. I still rewatch that movie every now and then because it’s just a funny story. It would be fun to see a series dive further into story and character.
This is the description from the original book: “His name begins with ‘R.’ That’s all it remembers. But what’s in a name when you’re a walking corpse just waiting to decompose?” R” wanders the ruins of post-apocalyptic America with no idea who he is, how he got here or why he has to eat people. He simply follows the mob: a mindless mob that has spread across the world and reduced civilization to ruins. And then he meets Julie. This fiery young survivor is a burst of color in the R’s gray landscape, and begins to remember the humanity he has lost. But their unlikely romance grows into something much greater, sparking a revolution that awakens the Dead and other darker forces. Warm Bodies is the quest of a dead man’s life. It’s a young woman’s fight for a better world. It’s the hope that refuses to die.”
Hope to see a Warm bodies series produced one day?
