It’s been three weeks since we first reported that Marvel actor Jeremy Renner had a horrific accident with a snowplow outside his Nevada home. Earlier this week, the actor released a statement in which he said he broke more than 30 bones in the crash, but he’s in great spirits, working hard in physical therapy and on his way to recovery.
Now, CNN has obtained a report from the Washoe County Sheriff’s Office, which reveals new details. The report indicates that Renner was driving a “Pistenbully snow groomer” to pull his nephew’s truck out of the snow. At one point, the actor exited the parked tractor when the vehicle began to slide sideways. The vehicle “began to slide causing Renner to exit the vehicle without applying the emergency brake.”
“Once he got off the Pistenbully, he realized it was heading towards him [his nephew]”, states the report. “He feared the Pistenbully was about to strike [his nephew]so he decided to try to stop or divert the Pistenbully”.
Renner quickly attempted to climb back into the plow cab but was “immediately drawn under the port rail”.
“Although the Pistenbully had some mechanical problems,” the report reads, “based on our mechanical inspection it is believed that the parking brake would have prevented the Pistenbully from moving forward. When Renner attempted to stop or deflect the Pistenbully to avoid injury [his nephew]he was pulled under the vehicle from the track and run over.
The report continues: “The Pistenbully ran over him and continued down the road. He lay back on the ground and concentrated on his breathing as she [his nephew and others] he provided him with assistance until medical personnel arrived at the scene”.
The report adds that “the impairment was not believed to be a factor in the crash.”
We are just happy to hear that Renner is recovering and will be fine. I’m not sure what it will mean for his future in the MCU, but his health is very important and he seems to be in good hands.
