Steven Spielberg thinks THE DARK KNIGHT would have gotten a Best Picture nomination today

when Christopher Nolan’S The dark Knight was released in 2008, many fans thought the film should have been nominated for Best Picture at the Academy Awards, but it wasn’t, and fans were disappointed. At least late Heath Ledger he got the nomination and won for his portrayal of The Joker.

If that movie is out today, director Steven Spielberg believes he would have gotten that nomination! Speaking about the Academy’s decision to expand the Best Picture nominees list to 10 films, Spielberg told Deadline:

“I’m really encouraged by that. He came late for the film that should have been nominated several years ago: Christopher Nolan’s The Dark Knight. That film definitely would have gotten a Best Picture nomination today.”

Spielberg also emphasized the inclusion of films such as Top Gun: nonconformist And Avatar: The Way of Water in this year’s list of Best Picture nominees. This is the first time that multiple sequels have been nominated for the Best Picture award in the same year. He said:

“Having these two blockbusters feature solidly in the top 10 is something we should all celebrate.”

They were both great movies. Top Gun: nonconformist it is definitely my favourite. I’d be so surprised if either of them win, but it’s good to see that they’ve at least been nominated.

by Spielberg The Fabelmans it was also nominated for seven awards this year, including best director and best picture. As for what he has planned next, he’s still figuring it out.
