Many people love anime. This has led to many studios trying to adapt anime into live-action shows and movies. Some certainly do it better than others, but very few of these adaptations end up being something fans enjoy. The Corridor Crew team recently released a video exploring some areas where these live-action adaptations fall short. For reference, the Corridor Crew team made one of my favorite anime-inspired live-action videos that you can watch here.
So, what do the big studios get wrong? Well, it can vary. Corridor Crew talks about how slow motion is often used incorrectly, studios have an obsession with showing the faces of actors and studios often include shots and moments that are not made with the intention to name a few. They make some really good points while watching Cowboy bebop, Ghost in the shellAnd death Note. Part of their goal with this video was also to try and learn how to make an adaptation like this while they’re working on making a new anime-style short. What do you think? Why do these adaptations fail? I’m personally getting to a point where I think we need to stop trying to adapt animated stuff into live-action and vice versa.
