Ron Howard directed the original Willow film in 1988, and came aboard to also executive produce the recent sequel series on Disney+. The first season was a lot of fun, and while we still haven’t heard that a second season is official, it seems like it’s inevitable, as the creators still have plenty of ideas and the fans are ready for more.
When asked what the word is in a second season of the show, Howard told The Hollywood Reporter:
“Well, there’s always been a hope and a plan for more seasons. There’s definitely more story to tell, but there’s nothing concrete I can comment on right now. From a creative point of view, everyone is full of energy. Everyone loved to work Willow. He seemed to have found his voice and his base, so we’re just waiting.
Even Ron Howard seems pretty sure we’ll get a second season. Sounds like confirmation to me. The first season of the series took place 20 years after the events of the film, when Willow defeated the evil Queen Bavmorda. In the show, we see sorcerer Willow Ufgood lead a new group of misfits on a dangerous rescue mission into the unknown.
All of Season 1 is now available to watch on Disney+, and we’ll let you know when Disney has news about Season 2.
