In case you forgot or missed it, Ravensburger has been working on making a Disney Trading Card Game (TCG) called Disney Lorcana. Recently, it was announced that the first set of cards will be released in the United States, Canada, United Kingdom, France, Germany, Austria, Switzerland, Belgium, Netherlands and Luxembourg starting in August Disney Lorcana: The first chapter.

This first set will include over 200 cards spread across starter decks, a gift set, booster packs, and something called Illumineer’s Trove. There will even be themed play mats, card cases, deck boxes and card holders at launch. The game will also feature all-new original artwork of beloved characters from Disney properties.
At launch, three starter decks will be available, each of which includes 60 cards in two of the six “inks” (for Magic: the gathering players this sounds like the five colors), a 12-card booster pack and game tokens. The color combinations for the decks are Amber and Amethyst, Emerald and Ruby, and Steel and Sapphire. Packs will be randomized with one foil and two guaranteed rare, super rare, or legendary cards.
The gift set will contain two oversized foil collectible and two foil playing cards for Mulan – Imperial Soldier and Hades – King of Olympus plus four booster packs and game tokens. Finally, the Illumineer’s Trove will include a themed container, a player’s guide, two deck boxes and eight booster packs.

If you live in the US, you will be able to find The first chapter to your local game stores starting August 18 with the promise of “a robust organized play program. Then, the game will be available in retail stores on September 1st. If you attend Gen Con 2023, you will be able to buy your first cards in front of the general public. I’ve been digging up some of the art and I’m a huge TCG fan, so there’s a chance I’ll give it a shot when it launches. I’m just a little surprised that the Illumineer’s Trove doesn’t have any decks, and there’s nothing that has two decks that friends can buy and start playing right away. You are excited to play Disney Lorcana?
