WME signs Rashad Frett;  Agency is helping writer-director’s Sundance short “Ricky” become a feature film

EXCLUSIVE: WME has director and screenwriter Rashad Frett, whose short film ricky is part of the 2023 Sundance Film Festival short film program. Frett was recently named a Sundance Fellow at the 2023 Screenwriters Lab and Intensive with Lin Que Ayoung, where the two ricky Screenplay in a feature film.

“Having WME as an accomplice in my deeper journey into the film will undoubtedly have a phenomenal impact on the trajectory,” said Fret. “I’m very excited about what WME and I are going to do together.”

Frett is a Caribbean-American filmmaker based in Manhattan, and he seriously pursued a career in art after surviving 9/11 as a medic in the US Army. It was around this time that positive social impact through the power of media became his passion. He graduated from the NYU Tisch Graduate Film Program with an MFA.

His awards include a BAFTA-HBO Award, a Martin Scorsese Young Filmmakers Award, a DGA Student Film Award winner and a BET Blackhouse Foundation Fellow at Sundance.
