‘The Last of Us’: preview of the awaited chapter 3, with Nick Offerman and Murray Bartlett in the role of Bill and Frank

The long-awaited third episode of “The Last of Us” arrives on HBO Max on Monday, January 30. This chapter, which again has a duration of more than an hourappears mentioned in many reviews by critics who have had the opportunity to see the full season, some even considering it “a masterpiece” (This humble writer agrees with these praises.) The streaming platform has released a preview of the episode, in which we meet two characters well known to fans of the video game: Bill and Frank.

These two names have already been mentioned a couple of times in the two episodes we’ve already seen of the series. In the first chapter we discover that Joel communicates with them through songs on the radio. Depending on the decade Bill and Frank play the song in, Pedro Pascal’s character and Tess (Anna Torv) know if there’s new merchandise or if there’s some kind of danger. In a second, Tess asks Joel to take Ellie (Bella Ramsey) to Bill and Frank to help them find fireflies.

In this trailer we see Nick Offerman as Bill (again channeling a survival-ready Ron Swanson) and Murray Bartlett as Frank. As hinted in the trailer, the episode will show how they met, something we haven’t seen in the video game.

“One of the Best Hours of Television”

Weeks before the debut of the series, Murray Bartlett commented in an interview how much one of the scripts of “The Last of Us” had impressed him: “One of the scripts in particular is some of the best hours of television I’ve ever read. It’s nice. It’s beautifully written. There are zombie creatures, but he’s cute and he’s human. I think it will be very special. I haven’t seen anything yet, but I’m really proud of the work we’ve done and I think it could be really wonderful. He’s going to be really wonderful”. We’ll find out on Monday January 30th. Save an hour and a quarter of your time for Joel and Ellie, mind you.
