Henry Cavill’s departure from “The Witcher” continues to hurt many fans of the fantasy series based on the novels by Andrzej Sapkowski. And now more details have been revealed about what the actor had planned before being fired from the show, namely that he originally wanted to participate in seven seasons, which has not concluded.
During a recent interview with The Hollywood Reporter (via FandomWire) Henry Cavill explained that he wanted to stay for seven seasons in “The Witcher”, and that this was the initial idea to complete the story of Geralt de Rivia. However, when the second installment arrived, the actor was finally replaced by Liam Hemsworth for the fourth installment of the Netflix series.
While planning the series, Lauren Hissrich, the show’s showrunner, had come up with a seven season plan for ‘The witcher’, which seemed overly ambitious at the time. However, Henry Cavill agreed with what they had thought for the adaptation of the novels and only set one condition to stay for all seasons.
To stay in the series, Henry Cavill asked who the story of ‘The witcher’, and for the writers to honor Sapkowksi’s work: ‘I’m a huge fan of the books and I stay true to them, and it’s about making sure the story plays out without too many distractions or side things to muddy the waters,’ he said the ‘Man of Steel’ actor.

Henry Cavill has left ‘The Witcher’ over creative differences
The reasons for Henry Cavill’s departure from “The Witcher” are not clear or confirmed so far. While some versions mention that the actor left the series due to creative differences with Netflix and its writing team, the show’s creator said he couldn’t talk about it until the season 3 premiere in the middle of the year.
However, everything seems to point to Cavill ultimately stepping aside, because the show’s voice wasn’t what he intended for Geralt’s story regarding the novels. And that’s how Netflix finally turned to who was going to be the star from the beginning, Liam Hemworth, best known for “The Hunger Games”, and who auditioned for the role in the first season.
Now, Henry Cavill is out of ‘The Witcher’ and without Superman, but the actor is already working on a new video game adaptation, ‘Warhammer 40k’ for Amazon Prime Video. Meanwhile, Netflix hasn’t revealed the exact release date for ‘The Witcher’ season 3, but it’s expected to arrive mid-year.
