Anne Hathaway on developing ‘The Princess Diaries 3’: “It’s a process that requires patience”

Anne Hathaway is thrilled with the fan response to the third installment of The Princess’s Diary Story. The highly anticipated film has been in the works for years, and Hathaway shares her thoughts on the development process.

“We feel the same, and I know it’s probably very frustrating,” she told People. “It’s a process that requires patience and that’s why everyone now has to consider themselves part of the film industry because that’s actually how long it takes to make things.”

It was in November when it was confirmed that there would be another chapter of this The Princess’s Diary Saga was in the works at Disney and was written by Aadrita Mukerji. Debra Martin Chase would also return to produce the new film.

Hathaway, who has not officially signed on for the new film, has expressed interest in being a part of a new film Diary of a Princess Movie. In October 2022, the Oscar-winning actress told Entertainment Tonight that she was “pulling” for a third film, adding, “If there’s a way that Julie Andrews can be brought in, I think we’re going to make it work. ” went where she was and put a green screen behind her and made it happen.

However, after it was announced that a Dreiquel was in the works, Julie Andrews said she may not return to reprise her role as Clarisse Renaldi.

The Princess’s Diary was released in 2001 starring Garry Marshall and directed by Andrews and Hathway. The coming-of-age comedy is based on Meg Cabot’s popular novel series, with Mia Thermopolis (Hathaway) at the heart of the story. Mia is a San Francisco teenager who discovers that she is the heir to the throne of Genovia.
