The film is said to be “an in-depth portrait of a complicated man who became the King of Pop. It will bring to life Jackson’s most iconic performances as it provides informed insight into the entertainer’s artistic process and personal life.” It is unclear how the film will address the controversies surrounding the late musician, given that the film was made concurrently with his assets.

Fuqua said in a statement, “The earliest films of my career were music videos, and I still feel that the combination of film and music is a profound part of who I am. To me, there is no artist with the power, charisma and sheer musical genius of Michael Jackson. I was influenced to make music videos by watching his work: the first black artist to play in high rotation on MTV. His music and those images are part of my worldview and the chance to tell his story on screen alongside his music was irresistible.”

King previously said, “I first met the Jackson family in 1981 and am honored to bring their legacy to the big screen. Sitting in Dodger Stadium watching the Victory Tour, I never imagined that nearly 38 years later I would be privileged to be a part of this movie.”

Producer Catherine Jackson he said: “Ever since Michael was a little boy, as a member of The Jackson 5, he loved the magic of cinema. As a family, we are honored to have our life’s story come to life on the big screen.”

I like the movies Fuqua made and Michael it will be a great project for him! I trust he will do a great job telling the story of Michael Jackson. I’ve been a fan of Jackson and his music ever since his Thriller album was introduced to me. I’m curious to see how this film project turns out.
