Lisa Marie Presley died on Thursday, January 12 at the age of 54 after going into cardiac arrest. The singer, the only daughter of the legendary Elvis Presley, had appeared just two days before her at the Golden Globes gala, so her shock at her sudden death was even greater. Since, the tributes haven’t stopped happening, including those from key makers of ‘Elvis,’ the acclaimed music biopic about his father’s life and careerin which Presley was heavily involved.

Baz Luhrmann, director of the film, posted on Instagram a photo of Lisa Marie with the protagonist of ‘Elvis’, Austin Butler, and the following message: “Over the past year, the entire ‘Elvis’ family and I have had the privilege of feeling the warm embrace of Lisa Marie. His sudden and shocking loss devastated people all over the world.. I know her fans have joined me in offering prayers of love and support to her mother, Priscilla, and her wonderful daughters, Riley, Finley and Harper. Lisa Marie, we will miss your warmth, your smile and your love.”.

Butler, for his part, reacted to the sad news in an official statement to Variety, where the actor, winner of the Golden Globe for his gritty interpretation of the King of Rock in the film by Luhrmann, shares his grief: “My heart is completely broken for Riley, Finley, Harper and Priscilla in the tragic and unexpected loss of Lisa Marie. I will forever be grateful and privileged for the time I was able to spend by their bright light and will forever cherish the little moments shared.” His warmth, love and authenticity will be remembered forever.”.
Finally, Tom Hanks, who plays Colonel Parker, Elvis’ manager in the film, also wanted to add his own tribute to his wife, also an actress Rita Wilson. Hanks shared a photo of Lisa Marie on Instagram with a short message signed by the couple: “We are saddened by the passing of Lisa Marie Presley. Absolutely heartbroken”.
Wilson elaborates further in his post: “Tom and I spent some time with the family on the ‘Elvis’ promotional tour. Lisa Marie was so open and direct, vulnerable, full of expectations about the movie. She spoke so eloquently about her father, about what the film meant to her, that it was a celebration of her father. […] He gave us a private tour of his home, Graceland, and made us feel right at home. He has been very kind to us, Austin, Baz and the guests. […] We extend our hearts and prayers to Riley, Harper, Finley, Danny and Priscilla. A mother should never lose a daughter. Lisa Marie lost her beloved son Benjamin, Priscilla lost her daughter. She is too much. We send love and prayers to the family and wish them peace and strength.”.
